What these shows are

Every show above is an Out of Pocket night: English-language stand-up in Ho Chi Minh City, run by a collective of comedians who got tired of waiting for someone else to do it. The list updates itself. When we add a show, it appears here, and when a show has happened, it quietly leaves. There is no need to refresh anything or ask us whether the poster you saw on Instagram is still current.

If a show has no price yet, that is because we announced it before the details were settled. Treat those as a save the date and check back. If you want the full archive, past shows included, the main shows page has both.

What to expect

Expect a bar, a microphone and a room full of people who came to laugh. A typical night is a host, a run of comedians and sometimes a touring headliner, over about two hours. Doors are usually 8:00 PM and the show starts at 8:30 PM, but the time on each show page is the one to trust, because special nights keep their own hours. Some nights, like our Will Pepper show, run two sessions in one evening, and you pick which one you are coming to.

The material is adult. There is no formal age limit, but if you would be uncomfortable explaining the jokes to your parents, you are in the right place. There is no obligation to take part. It is a night out, and it happens to have jokes.

What it costs

Pricing varies by show. Many nights are pay what you want: reserve a spot on the show page if you like, and pay what the night was worth at the end. Donate over 100,000 VND and you will usually get free popcorn. Ticketed shows list their price on the card above, and when there is an advance price and a door price, the advance one tends to be lower. Prices are in Vietnamese dong.

Where the shows are and how to get there

Most shows are at Alibi - Bar & Bites, 93C Võ Văn Tần, Ward 6, District 3. A Grab car or bike is the easy way in: put the venue name in the app and it will find it. Our Alibi venue page has the map and the details.

Some special nights go elsewhere. We have run shows at Taboo Vietnam on Trường Sa in District 3, and our Will Pepper shows are at Shout Bar, 69 Nguyễn Cư in Thảo Điền, which is across the river from the centre and worth leaving earlier for if you are coming from District 1. Every show page gives the address and a map link, so check the page for the night you picked rather than assuming it is Alibi.

How to book

Click through to the show you want. Pay what you want shows take an RSVP and nothing else. Ticketed shows take a booking on the page, and some also have a partner ticketing option linked from the show. If you are unsure which show suits you, start with the next one on the list.
